Today I’ll give you a quick update on the development status of “Strength of the Sword”.
First I want to start with saying that the development of the game goes according to plan. Right now we are working in two main directions – gameplay and art design.
The first direction – gameplay – includes work of improving and tweaking the gameplay mechanics. We try to create an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We keep adding new features to the combat system which will enrich it and make the overall combat and gameplay experience as pleasant as possible. We also take a more tactical approach with the combat in the game since we don’t want to fall in the cliché category of button masher games.
The second direction – art design – includes work of improving and tweaking the overall art design of the game. We are working hard on the character models and environments since we want to provide you with a game that presents quality art design. We’re trying to create variable and memorable characters and environments both of which will make you feel as a part of the game’s world.
That is for now, thank you for reading and be sure to check our site often since we’ll be adding more info about the game as time goes by.
Today I’ll talk about the conceptual process during the creation of “Strength of the Sword”.
We started off with the idea that we wish to make a beat ‘em up game that have the classic oldschool (Golden Axe series, Knights of the Round) feel when you play it.
At the beginning of the conceptual process our artist made a few concept sketches of environment and some characters so that we can choose the art style of our game. Then we decided to make a short movie as an illustration to the things we are trying to achieve in “Strength of the Sword”. This movie helped us to furthermore see our ideas and the way we want them to be realized in the finished game.
In this movie you can notice the grotesque cartoon atmosphere that we are aiming to achieve. You can also notice the presence of combos and special moves for which I can’t talk more at this point. ^^ Some of the enemies that will make their appearance in the game are also included so you can get a glimpse at them as well.
Here is the movie so you can enjoy it too.
Be noted that the scenes in this movie are made in the early stages of development and by no means represent the final quality of “Strength of the Sword”. We are doing our best to deliver smooth and fun beat ‘em up experience to the gamers combined with modern 3D technologies.
The Ivent team is a small (for now) group of people who share a common passion for video games. In the next few lines I’ll introduce you the main people in the Ivent team.
Georgi Rakidov a.k.a. Haho – He is the founder of Ivent and the backbone of the studio. As a former part of Dagger Games, Georgi has a background as graphics programmer and game play programmer. He is well aware of the things he’s doing and knows how to achieve his goals.
Lubomir Iliev a.k.a. Loc – He has experience in graphics design, 3D animation and visualization. Lubomir is the guy that’ll be responsible for the look and visuals of our games so you can expect excellent quality graphics from them.
Kaloyan Ganchev a.k.a. OldschoolBG – He (I mean me) is the creator of Hero’s Tale and has experience in game design and level design. I will be responsible for the game design of our games so if some of them don’t play the way they are supposed to you can blame it on me. ^^
There also two other people that I would like to mention here since they helped us a lot in the early stages of creating “Strength of the Sword”.
Georgi Strezov – He wrote and recorded the music for the game. He made no compromises in the pursuit of high quality sound for the game.
Dean Ivanov – He helped us with some of the programming for the game.
I hope you liked the brief introduction of our team members.
This is a short description of who we are and what our goals are.
The name of our company is Ivent and it was founded in early 2008 in Bulgaria. We are a very small independent team devoted to create high quality video games. We think that the making of video games is a creative process. Our goal is to be in a close contact with gamers all the time and to develop our games together. We also wish to discuss and to follow their advices in the process of making our games. That’s one of the main purposes of this website. The only benchmark of our success will be their satisfaction.
Even though our team is small, one of our main goals is to produce high quality games and sell them at a reasonable price.
On our website you can keep up with our work by reading the news and the blogs, where members of our team will be giving you information about various events. Have a look at our gallery where you can find concept art, screenshots and wallpapers from our games. We’d be glad to see your ideas, suggestions and comments on our games in the forums.
Help us in achieving our most important goal – the creation of high quality games and the building of a game community around them
